Tariffs, Tariffs, Tariffs!

In our business tariff wars do affect the rail yards and ocean warehouses and that affects the Trucking industry. How? Carriers that are normally pulling containers with chassis around the Midwest now rent trailers to haul freight and doing it at dirt cheap pricing. As soon as the Tariffs get settled, they will be turning those trailers back in and will go back to chassis, container business.

Good for you, you may say, but really it is a temporary solution to any capacity issues you may have. Do these carriers have the right insurance coverages? Are they using independent contractors to haul your precious cargo? Do you know what the safety ratings are for not only the carrier holding the certification but also these independent drivers? As the saying goes, the sweet smell of savings gets lost in the sour smell of poor service.

Your business has built a reputation, and trucking companies are an extension of that reputation. WBT has 114 years of exceeding customer expectations, and we pride ourselves on new, safe, compliant, equipment and Professional Truck Drivers. The kind you would take home to meet your mother! We are getting into summer vacation season and you will see equipment that is unacceptable for the road or come in contact with a driver who does not represent the industry well. Is that driver hauling your freight? Would you know if they were?

WBT never uses independent contractors or temps in our driver fleet. All our equipment is under our authority and maintained at the highest levels. Avoid the opportunity to save a buck at the expense of the unknown and know that there are many great carriers ready to handle your cargo, now and in the future.

West Bend Transit (WBT) is here to help you have a successful 2025. Visit us at www.westbendtransit.com or call Mike Matz, Director of Sales & Operations, today at 262-339-4701, or email here.
